Just Munch It With JM Shawarma

The food business is touted as a very progressive and potential profit-making venture from almost everywhere there are interested consumers and foodie lovers.

And the shawarma has again made another swing back to the food business after it’s introduction to the market many, many years back.

Say Hello to JM Shawarma who’s a household name from the visayas and mindanao regions since around 2010 when they started out as a humble kiosk selling fresh guyabano juices.

Obtaining a celebrity endorser is also no easy joke to help boost market awareness and reach to more people and masses alike. That is why the owner, Mr JM Miranda aka John Mark Miranda picked out his “tukayo” JM de Guzman, to be the very first brand ambassador for JM Shawarma.



According to one of its founders and chief financial officer, Ms. Hannah Miranda-Mamon,

“We believe na sa dami ng pinagdaanan ni JM Shawarma as a brand, we can relate to the story of JM de Guzman. Si JM himself ay marami ding pinagdaanan pero ngayon, he made a great comeback and that he never gave up,” shared Ms. Hannah who used to work for a major fastfood chain.

Originally from the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, General Santos City, JM Shawarma has been one of the top Shawarma brands in the Visayas and Mindanao region for almost six years now. 

But more recently, the brand has ventured in Manila thereby widening their reach to a total of 100 stores nationwide. Thanks to franchising, their shawarma business soared to more than 200 stores to date! 

While they are a newcomer in Luzon, Hannah boasts that JM Shawarma’s superior food taste made up of fresh ingredients and tasty sauces of garlic, cheese and barbecue is something that could put them at par with their competitors, on top of their products’ affordability.

Aside from their delicious shawarmas, they also offer rice meals and noodles to go that are reasonably priced at also P59.00. Even the students can afford it and can order it regularly. 

“Excited ako kasi sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam na mapagkatiwalaan na maging endorser ng isang brand gaya ng JM Shawarma, na talagang tinatangkilig ng mga kababayan natin,” 

said JM, who’s more than grateful for the new blessing in his career this new year. 
The last time I saw JM was last week at ABS CBN for his contract renewal of another two years and this week we met again for another newly signed contract with the kind people behind JM Shawarma, the Bear Fruit of Companies from General Santos City. 

They made a perfect choice with actor JM because he is a food lover and the shawarma he recalls was first introduced to him by his father whom he's had lots of memorable foodie adventures with while growing up. 

The media event highlight was the contract signing of JM with Barefruit Corporation group of companies to officially seal the deal and welcome him to his JM Shawarma endorsement. 


Since Visayas and Mindanao are rich and abundant with fish harvests, especially tuna, the team of JM Shawarma also thought why not incorporate the delicious natural taste of these hard to catch tuna's in their shawarmas?

“We also have Tuna Shawarma highlighting the abundant product of Mindanao mostly healthy buff love it. We also regularly introduce variety among our products. The recent blockbusters that we have are the Cheesy Wrap and Shawarma Overload,” she shared.

But as far as their competition is concerned, Ms. Hannah underscores that it’s only a secondary issue for them. 

“It’s a challenge that inspires all entrepreneurs to continuously improve. As long as we continue to focus on taking care of our customers, consistent in our quality and as long as we have dedicated and happy team around we can compete,” is her fair and confident insight. 

Reasonably priced, JM Shawarma vows to introduce something new to the public every quarter. 

But on their current menu line up now, you can choose from regular shawarma, the all meat, cheesy wrap, their bestseller which is the overload with the inclusion of a sunny side up egg on top! wow! That's something new!

Who would have thought that a sunny side egg can actually blend and taste good with shawarmas. 

Expect to see more JM Shawarma stalls in the near future, especially in the common areas in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon and Visayas with their commissaries now ready to serve the entire Philippines and with JM de Guzman ready to just munch it with JM Shawarma. 

Just like what Ms Hannah mentioned regarding fellow shawarma competitors, I also asked the same thing to JM who is likewise aware who his co-endorsers are from other brands. 

"Basta ako, focus lang with JM Shawarma. I appreciate their love and passion for what they do. And I don't think hindi magtatagal ang produkto nila sa market kung wala iyong mga important values na yun."
