Noli de Castro visits chronically flooded towns in the latest episode of “KBYN: Kaagapay ng Bayan”

MANILA, Philipines – How would you live your life in a constantly flooded town?

This is what Noli de Castro investigates as he travelled to the towns of Hagonoy and Calumpit in Bulacan, which are submerged in water all year round, this Sunday (September 11) in “KBYN: Kaagapay ng Bayan.”

Because of the consistent flooding, some residents already abandoned their homes which turned these areas into a “ghost town.” However, there are still some folks who stayed behind. Kabayan got to know how these residents adapted their everyday routines to the incessant flood.

Quitting is not an option for our kababayans Rochelle Cabanada and Teodolfo Palomeno, Jr. as they juggle several jobs every day to make ends meet. Because of the rising prices of goods, they have to work twice, or even thrice, as hard in order for them to afford their everyday needs.

The “KBYN” team met Rochelle, from Quezon City, who is the sole provider for the family due to her husband not being able to work after being shot. She sells breakfast meals and kakanin in the morning and works as a laundrywoman in the afternoon. Sometimes, she is also an online seller and a repairwoman. Meanwhile, Teodolfo, from Cavite, worked as a security guard for 18 years now. But, aside from this, he is also a bottle collector and a painter in his hometown.

Dog-loving viewers get a treat as “KBYN” features small furry creatures, which also captured the hearts of celebrities like Pokwang, Piolo Pascual, and Charo Santos. Teacup dogs or microdogs may be cute but they are very sensitive because of their size. JC Briones, a microdog breeder and seller, teaches viewers how to properly take care of these tiny pups.
