TORRANCE, United States (Aug 2026) : Getting help during an emergency in the Philippines used to mean navigating a confusing maze of local hotlines, but the Next Generation Advanced 911 (NGA 911) system is changing that fast, making the country the only one in Southeast Asia with a US-grade emergency network.
A world-class model for public safety
For bringing this technology to the country and integrating it into the national Unified 911 network, California-based public safety firm NGA 911 LLC received the Community Impact and Service Award at the International Asian American Business Expo (IAABE) Legacy Gala on Aug. 7 at the Torrance Marriott.
The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, which serves around 1.3 million Pinoy residents across Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Arizona, nominated the company for the award. Los Angeles Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz noted that bringing a unified emergency system modeled after the U.S. standard directly benefits millions of Pinoy citizens back home.
Upgrading emergency response across the nation
Unlike traditional dispatch systems, NGA 911 uses IP-based cloud technology to connect callers directly to police, fire, and medical responders. By replacing fragmented local numbers with a central cloud network, dispatch times are slashed and callers are pinpointed with exact geolocation.
Ishka Villacisneros-Tusjakova, Chief Financial Officer of NGA 911 in the U.S. and President of NGA 911 Philippines, accepted the honor on behalf of the company. She highlighted how the initiative puts Pinoy leadership and American tech innovation on the global stage, serving as a blueprint for neighboring ASEAN nations like Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia that are working to upgrade their legacy infrastructures.
What comes next for Pinoy callers
While the platform already powers the active Unified 911 system across the country, more features are on the way. Soon, citizens will not just be restricted to voice calls. Pinoy callers will be able to text 911, upload photos, and send real-time video clips to give first responders immediate situational awareness before arriving on scene.
