Design and aesthetics

The Realme Note 50 arrives in a standard Realme box, hinting at the brand’s new strategy announced by CEO Sky Lee. It sports a 6.74-inch display, a 13-megapixel AI camera, an octa-core Unisoc T612 chipset, 4GB of memory, 64GB of internal storage, and a pleasing sky blue color. Right off the bat, it’s clear this is an entry-level phone.

At first glance, the sky blue variant of the Realme Note 50 exudes a mid-range appeal. The phone features an innovative camera arrangement with three separate circles on the upper third, which is glossy, while the lower two-thirds have a matte finish.

This design choice helps reduce smudges, although fingerprints are still somewhat visible.

Display and user interface

The Realme Note 50’s 6.74-inch display, while not the highest quality, includes a pre-installed screen protector. The interface is clean with a mix of preloaded apps, including popular choices like Lazada, LinkedIn, Netflix, TikTok, and Spotify.

Users will appreciate the option to uninstall these apps if desired.

Performance and benchmarks

Powered by the Unisoc T612 chipset and equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the Realme Note 50 is firmly in the entry-level category. In our benchmark tests, it scored around 240k in AnTuTu, indicative of basic performance for a 2024 device. It’s a suitable choice for those not seeking high-end specs.

The phone supports dual nano-SIM cards and a microSD card, providing flexibility for users. With 64GB of internal storage, the addition of a microSD card is a welcome feature.

Camera capabilities

The 13-megapixel main camera performs adequately in good lighting but struggles in dimmer conditions. This performance is typical for phones in this category.

Software and user experience

The Realme Note 50 runs on Realme UI T Edition based on Android 13, offering a user experience close to stock Android. This might appeal to tech enthusiasts who prefer a no-frills interface. However, those accustomed to more feature-rich phones might find it lacking.

Battery and charging

Equipped with a 5000mAh battery, the phone charges at a standard speed of 10 watts. It should be power efficient thanks to its modest specs.

Availability, pricing (Philippines)

Realme just announced a very agressive pricing for the realme Note 50. Priced at only P3,599, it is a strategic move to counter the heightened competition in the Philippine market.

While the founder Sky Li nor realme Philippines did not mention any brands, we believe that this comes as a result of the from the Transsion Group in 2023. It has decidedly targeted the mid-range budget segment through its three brands Itel, TECNO, and Infinix.

In addition to this, HONOR’s entry in the Philippine market has carved a big portion of the mid and upper mid-range market.

Final thoughts

The Realme Note 50, while an entry-level device, impresses with its aesthetics, resembling a lower mid-range phone. Its performance, however, aligns with its category, offering basic functionality suitable for users with moderate smartphone needs. Its user experience, leaning towards a simpler interface, might appeal to some while disappointing others. Ultimately, the Realme Note 50 is a decent option for those seeking a budget-friendly smartphone with a modern look.
