You are eating at a fancy restaurant eating your favorite food with your friends. Someone makes a joke while you were just about to swallow and you laugh. Hard. Bits and pieces of food shoot up your mouth. You are choking, though hopefully not to your death because you plan to live a gazillion years.

What is in the glass?
Soda? Iced tea? Orange juice? Milk, or perhaps … beer?
For me, that would be water (did you feel the smooth transition?).
Ladies and gentlemen water is an essential component for survival. Yes, I’m using a big word today because I would like you to take a while and appreciate this wonderful creation, this product of nature that many of us take for granted.
Perhaps you are one of those people are appalled at the idea of taking in this tasteless, odorless fluid. Perhaps you are the type who will only take in carbonated drinks or iced tea, and the idea of water to you is … well, eww.
No judgment here – the choice is yours my friend but personally, I prefer water over anything most of the time.
Not just any type of water, I prefer “tap” water over cold water.
Some would say there are health benefits to drinking water that is not cold, that cold water clogs the arteries. For me, it’s just a matter of preference. Okay if I really think about it, perhaps it’s because I can “feel” the cold in cold water? Like when it passes through my system I can literally feel the cold. Bottomline, that’s my choice.
Thing is, I recently went to an event from Aquabest and Evee. There, I got to know my favorite drink more closely.
Those familiar with their Chemistry should know the terms “pH value” and “TDS”.
What do these two acronyms stand for?
According to Wikipedia nobody really knows the true meaning of “pH”, and its origin is widely debated, and probably best left forgotten. However, it refers to a scale that measures the acidity or basicity of an aquaeous solution – erm, liquid.
The more acidic your liquid is, the lower the pH level, while a higher pH level would mean that it is more basic.
Orange juice, for instance, is quite acidic, and has a pH of 3.5 while soap water has a pH of 10. Pure water has a pH close to 7.
There are claims that acidic water is bad for the health, and that a drinking water with pH level higher than 7 may be beneficial. These claims are being disputed though.
According to one website alkaline water is a scam, that while it does nothing to harm the body it certainly does not help.
TDS, on the other hand, stands for “total dissolved solids”, which refers to any substance that are can be found in your water, usually after filtration. Fresh water, for instance, has a TDS < 1,000 mg per liter while seawater as a TDS > 35,000 mg per liter.

Apparently, the folks over at Aquabest have a way to greatly lower the TDS of water while maintaining a higher pH level using nanotechnology.
As of writing, Aquabest is still in the process of rolling out this new system to the water stations, so as of writing they are unable to provide information on pricing, but the technology involved will definitely push the price higher.
