VALENZUELA CITY, Philippines (Apr 2025) — In a major step toward modernizing public services, Valenzuela City has deployed 41 BYD Dolphin electric vehicles for law enforcement and administrative use, making it the first local government unit in the Philippines to operate the country’s largest electric police fleet.
The move is a joint effort between the City Government of Valenzuela, BYD Cars Philippines, and ACMobility. According to a press release sent to our editors, the electric vehicles (EVs) will support daily patrols, emergency response, and administrative duties, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional gas-powered cars.
Of the 41 units, 35 are assigned to the Valenzuela City Police Station. The remaining units are distributed across city government offices, with one vehicle designated for first responder operations. Each BYD Dolphin is equipped with a 95 PS electric motor and a 44.9 kWh BYD Blade Battery, offering a range of up to 405 kilometers per charge. For rapid response needs, fast charging enables the vehicles to power up from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes. Patrol units have been outfitted with police lights, sirens, and integrated communication systems.
To support this initiative, ACMobility’s infrastructure arm, Greenstrum, has installed 15 units of 7 kW AC chargers at 12 sites throughout the city. A 60 kW DC fast charger has also been placed at the Alert Station, and more public chargers are planned. These stations will appear in the Evro app and will be accessible to the general public.
“This is just the beginning of a transformative journey,” said Mayor Wes Gatchalian. “We are making the shift to electric vehicles easy and convenient for all Valenzuelanos, while reducing our environmental impact.”
The initiative places Valenzuela at the forefront of electric mobility in the Philippines, aligning with broader goals for sustainability, energy efficiency, and responsible governance.
