Apple Pay’s next wave: BPI is tokenized and ready, EastWest shows the same signal, and RCBC, Maya, and Wise are reported next

Apple Pay launched with four banks. BPI is tokenized and showing Wallet support, EastWest has the same flag, and RCBC, Maya, and Wise are reported next.

Apple Pay is live in the Philippines with exactly four banks, but the next wave is already forming: BPI’s cards are tokenized and its app quietly advertises Apple Wallet support, EastWest is showing the same signal, and RCBC, Maya, and Wise are all reported to be next in line.

The clearest tell is the App Store: several Philippine finance apps now display “Supports Wallet” in their listings, the same flag the four launch banks showed before Apple switched them on.

Here is who is next, what the evidence says, and who is still waiting.

The four banks that are live today

Apple’s official participating banks page lists exactly four Philippine issuers: Chinabank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank, and UnionBank.

Our official launch list covers the full card-by-card breakdown, and Apple’s launch announcement confirms thousands of merchants are accepting Apple Pay from day one.

Everyone else is playing catch up, and the signals point to a clear pecking order.

BPI: the frontrunner, already tokenized

BPI is the obvious next addition. Its cards are already tokenized and live on Google Pay, and its terms and conditions explicitly name Apple Pay as a supported wallet, per our BPI deep dive.

The BPI mobile app also displays “Supports Wallet” on the App Store, and insiders cited by Digital Banks PH expect a unified wallet announcement around the middle of the second quarter of 2027.

BPI is the country’s second largest bank with about PHP 3.66 trillion in assets, so its addition would meaningfully expand Apple Pay’s reach beyond the current four.

EastWest: the same App Store signal

EastWest Bank is the other traditional bank showing the “Supports Wallet” flag on its App Store listing, alongside BPI, UnionBank, Chinabank, and GoTyme before the launch.

That flag has been a reliable leading indicator in this rollout, which is why EastWest is widely expected in the next wave.

RCBC: reported but unconfirmed

RCBC has been named in community reports as part of the next group, but there is no official statement and no App Store flag confirmed as of this writing.

Treat RCBC as a likely candidate on strength of reports, not confirmed evidence.

Maya and Wise: the digital players in the mix

Maya is interesting because it is both a digital bank and an e-wallet. Its app was seen in early Apple Pay testing footage showing a Wallet add flow, and community reporting lists Maya among the next in line.

Wise, the international money transfer platform, is also reported to be preparing Apple Pay support, which would let PH users tap their Wise card at local terminals.

Both are flagged as reported, not officially confirmed.

What about GCash?

GCash users are the loudest waitlist on social media, with many saying they are holding off until the GCash Visa Card works with Apple Pay.

There is no confirmed timeline, and GCash was not mentioned in the reported next wave, so treat it as a longer-term possibility.

BDO: the biggest holdout

BDO, the country’s largest bank, has no confirmed timeline for Apple Pay support, per community reporting.

That matters because BDO’s card base is enormous, and its absence is the single biggest gap in the Philippine rollout.

The full picture, compared

Institution Status Evidence
Chinabank Live (Aug 4, 2026) Apple official list
GoTyme Live (Aug 4, 2026) Apple official list
Metrobank Live (Aug 4, 2026) Apple official list
UnionBank Live (Aug 4, 2026) Apple official list
BPI Next, likely mid-2027 Tokenized, Google Pay live, “Supports Wallet”, T&C names Apple Pay
EastWest Strong candidate “Supports Wallet” on App Store
RCBC Reported Community reports only
Maya Reported Testing footage, community reports
Wise Reported Community reports
GCash No timeline User demand only
BDO No timeline No confirmed plans

How to track who is next

The single best leading indicator is the App Store: when a bank’s app starts showing “Supports Wallet,” integration is usually underway.

The other signal is tokenization. Once a bank’s terms and conditions mention Apple Pay or the bank confirms its cards are tokenized, the infrastructure is done and the launch is Apple’s call.

Apple’s participating banks page is the authoritative list, and it updates as banks come online.

The bottom line

If you hold a BPI card, you are the closest to Apple Pay without being on the official list, and the wait is likely measured in months rather than years.

EastWest holders have the same App Store signal working for them, and RCBC, Maya, and Wise users have reason for cautious optimism.

GCash and BDO users are in for the longest wait, with no confirmed timeline from either.

The rollout pattern is clear: Apple launched with four, the infrastructure is ready at BPI, and the second wave is already assembling.
