MANILA, Philippines (Aug 2026) — Digital assistants are no longer just glorified search bars, as companies around the world are rapidly expanding their AI workforces to handle complex office tasks.
A new global study from tech giant Salesforce reveals that the average number of AI agents activated per enterprise jumped nearly three times over the past year. For Pinoy tech professionals and businesses watching the global shift, the 2026 Agentic Enterprise Index shows that organizations are moving past basic chatbots to build versatile digital workforces that handle real work.
From basic chatbots to actual helpers
The capabilities of these digital workers have grown significantly. By the end of 2025, the unique skill set of an average agent expanded from two to six distinct business actions. During intense shopping seasons, retail agents can even execute up to nine specific skills, driving four times the sales for companies compared to those without automated help.
To measure this shift, Salesforce created the Agentic Work Unit, a metric tracking discrete tasks completed by an AI agent. Output for these tasks is growing at a 15 percent compound monthly rate, proving that these tools are taking meaningful action instead of just generating text.
Real-world adoption is booming
Major brands are already utilizing these tools to manage heavy workloads. Jewelry brand Pandora uses an AI concierge powered by the Agentforce platform to instantly handle 60 percent of routine support requests during peak holiday rushes. Meanwhile, manufacturing giant Siemens uses a coordinated multi-agent workflow to nurture and qualify thousands of inbound sales leads every week.
