The Mind Museum is bringing dinosaurs to life in a 6-month exhibit entitled Dinosaurs Around The World: Passport To Pangaea.

Designed as a journey through space and time, explorers are invited to discover the “lost world” by visiting the world’s major land divisions – from the fierce plains of Africa to the tropical beaches of Antartica.

We joined our friends at the Mind Museum on opening day to witness the exhibit in its full glory. Here are 4 reasons why we think this exhibit is worth checking out:

1. Dinosaurs are very detailed and well-designed

We have been to many dinosaur exhibits but aesthetically, this is one of the best. The amount of detail that the artists have placed into designing the dinosaurs is insane.

The skin is soft, and the pores are actually textured and not just painted. The Velociraptor even has feathers covering its body.

The dinos are cordoned to prevent unwanted accidents, so you won’t get to ride them. Visitors can touch and feel some of them through the barricade, though.

2. The animation is life-like

Animatronics is made with machines, so sometimes the movements can be stiff as a result. Imagination Station, the company behind the exhibit, has excellent animatronics.

The dinosaur’s movements are smooth and fluid, though the range of motion is a bit limited.

Even the eyes are animated – they blink and move as if they were alive.

3. Wide selection of animated dinosaurs

The exhibit features a selection of 13 dinosaurs from different periods and continents. Although limited in number, there is enough variety in the exhibit to satisfy any dino lover’s pre historic craving.

Carnivores are well-represented by the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the king of all carnivores and the Spinosaurus, the biggest of them all.

Herbivores are well-represented by the 30-foot Amargasaurus and the heavily plated Triceratops.

Jurassic Park fans will be happy to find the Velociraptor happily snapping at visitors beside the Oviraptor.

4. More than just animated beasts

Animated 30-foot creatures may be the highlight of the exhibit, but there are other fun-filled activities to enjoy.

Kids can play with miniature dinosaurs or un-earth prehistoric bones in special sandboxes.

Visitors can also explore other displays, such as a 5-foot dinosaur femur, bone imprints, archaeological tools, and more.
