Mitsubishi Motors has confirmed a September 2 world debut for the all-new Pajero, closing a countdown that ran through teasers, sightings, and reports all year. The fifth-generation Pajero arrives five years after the fourth-gen model ended its 15-year run in 2021, and it effectively replaces the Pajero Sport as the brand’s ladder-frame flagship.

Ladder frame is back
Teasers and spy shots point to a boxier, more rugged Pajero returning to off-road-focused ladder-frame construction for the first time in two generations. The underpinnings are expected to come from the current Triton, built at the same Thailand factory, with a more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension in the mix. Mitsubishi’s own teasers add Super-All Wheel Control to the pitch, and the expected engine is the Triton’s 2.4L MIVEC bi-turbo diesel, with a hybrid reported for the wider line.

A family of Pajeros is coming
This is not a one-and-done revival. Mitsubishi told its 57th General Meeting of Shareholders that the all-new Pajero will grow into a family of models. A Nikkei Asia report adds that a more compact model may share parts with the Outlander PHEV, and a kei-sized version could even take on the Suzuki Jimny. In Australia, filings point to six variants across four grades, with a showroom arrival targeted by the end of 2026.
What it means for the Philippines
Mitsubishi has not announced Philippine plans for the new Pajero, so treat any local launch or pricing talk as speculation until Mitsubishi Motors Philippines speaks. What is real is the brand’s PH momentum: the Outlander PHEV just returned to the PH with a 22.7 kWh GT AWD flagship, and the brand is building its first locally assembled hybrid EV by 2028.
A ladder-frame Pajero sliding into that pipeline would hand Mitsubishi a halo nameplate it has not had here in years. All eyes on September 2: if the fifth-gen Pajero lives up to the teasers, the question every Pinoy fan will ask is how soon it ships here, and at what price.
